Biography: Born in 1986, actor Jo Bok-Rae studied in the acting department of the Seoul University of Arts but he didn’t make his screen debut until 2013 when he featured as a bit player in Lee Joon-ik’s "Hope". Before that, he was quite active in the Seoul theatre scene, featuring in several Shakespeare adaptions among others, as well as musicals. Though he remained a face for small roles, Bok-rae was able to amass several credits once he began working in front of the camera, appearing in commercial titles such as the serial killer thriller "Monster", the smash-hit period naval film "Roaring Currents", and both of director Jang Jin’s 2014 titles, "Man on High Heels" and "We Are Brothers". He took a step up in early 2015 when he landed one of the main roles in the Lunar New Year 1960s-set music drama "C’est Si Bon". He played legendary folk singer Song Chang-Sik in the film and drew strong notices for his powerful turn. A few months later he appeared in a supporting role alongside Kim Hye-soo in the Cannes-invited female gangster thriller "Coin Locker Girl". Other 2015 roles included the legal drama "The Unfair", Chuseok comedy-thriller "The Accidental Detective", and the romantic comedy "Love Guide for Dumpees". His first full leading role came with the suspense thriller "The Queen of Crime" in 2016, alongside Park Ji-young. (Source: KoreanFIlm)
