Biography: Yoshioka Riho, born January 15, 1993, is a Japanese actress and model. Born in Uzumasa, Ukyo-ku, Kyoto City where the famous Toei Kyoto Studio Park is located and influenced by the family that runs video-related business, Yoshioka grew up being familiar with various forms of arts and culture - film, stage, Kabuki, Noh, Japanese dance, classical music and Rakugo. At the age of 18, Yoshioka was invited by her friend at Doshisha University to a small theater and became absorbed to acting. From then on, she participated in multiple indie projects, and received her first ever screen appearance as an extra in "Tenchi: The Samurai Astronomer". With Tokyo being the production hub of the mainstream TV drama and movies, she enrolled at a performing arts school in Tokyo to study acting while attending calligraphy classes at Kyoto Tachibana University. Upon her graduation from Kyoto Tachibana University in 2015, she moved to Tokyo to establish her acting career. Yoshioka's movie debut came in 2015 with "Mango and the Red Wheelchair". It was her role as Tamura Nobu in 2015 Asadora "Asa ga Kita", portraying as a friend of Chiyo (daughter of the heroine Asa), made her recognized by the general audience. In 2016, Yoshioka was cast as the supporting characters for Kudo Kankuro's drama "Yutori Desu ga Nani ka”, followed by "Death Cash" and "Medical Team: Lady Da Vinci no Shindan". Her impressive performance in the next project "Quartet" won her "Best Supporting Actress" at the 92nd Television Drama Academy Award and elevated her status in the entertainment industry. Since then, she began landing main roles in the renzoku dramas and movies. In 2017, Yoshioka was voted the "Top Actress Who Made A Breakthrough This Year" after being chosen as number one among every age group polled by Oricon. The same year, she was chosen as "VOGUE JAPAN Women of the Year 2017". She is also a recipient of the "2018 Newcomer of the Year" award at the 42nd edition of Elan d'Or Awards. In 2020, she won "Newcomer of the Year" award at the 43rd Japan Academy Film Prize for her works in "Parallel World Love Story" and "Blind Witness". Yoshioka also hosts UR LIFESTYLE COLLEGE, a radio program broadcasted by J-WAVE. Her hobbies are playing with cats and watching Shinpa, a form of Japanese new school theatre. She is represented by A-Team Inc., an affiliated company of the performing arts school which she attended.
